Legacy Triathlon Training Program at Tri-Zone

Tri-Zone's Free Triathlete Training Program for the 2019 Legacy Triathlon

Whether you are already a swimmer, cyclist, runner, or just thinking about it, Our Give It A Tri training program will help prepare you for our local races. For Summer 2019 we will be targeting the Legacy Triathlon in Long Beach on Saturday July 20th, 2019. The Legacy Triathlon is a sprint-distance triathlon with a 750 meter (820 yard) swim, 18.9k (11.74 mile) bike, and 5k (3.1 mile) run. This race is a great introduction to open water triathlons.

Tri-Zone is hosting this program in conjunction with TRIBE-The Triathlon Club of Southern California. The race itself is presented by USA Triathlon and more information can be found here.

Thank you for your interest in Tri-Zone's free triathlon training program. We are excited to offer the Give It A Tri program and look forward to working with you. Family and friends are invited to join you also. Here are a few details you will need to know about the program:

WHEN: May 25th through July 20th, 2019: Clinics, bike and run workouts Saturday mornings 8am to 10:30am.

WHERE: Clinics, bike/run at Tri-Zone, 3380 Cerritos Ave in Los Alamitos; weekday evening and Sunday practice pool swims at the JFTB pool in Los Alamitos, open water practice swims at Bayshore swim area in Long Beach.

May 25th: Orientation and Paperwork, Brick Workout
June 1st: Gear and Nutrition Talk, Brick Workout
June 2nd: Pool Clinic (Wetsuit Trial, Breathing Skills, Swimming Technique)
June 8th: Open Water Clinic at Bayshore Swim Area, Run Workout
June 15th: Stretching and Injury Prevention Workshop, Brick Workout
June 22nd: Bike Maintenance and Flat Tire Workshop, Brick Workout
June 29th: Running Gait Analysis, Brick Workout
July 6th: Core Strength Workshop, Brick Workout
July 13th: Transition Practice
July 20th: Race Day! (Optional -- participant is responsible for signing up)

Weekday Swim Workouts: Tri-Zone has lanes reserved Wednesday and Friday nights from 6:30pm to 7:30pm for the JFTB Master's Swim Program coached workouts. All abilities are invited, and Tri-Zone covers the cost for Give It A Tri participants. The Master's Swim Program is a great way to get to the next level with your swimming; visit MWR Aquatic Training Center for more information.
